Sofia Lee — Digital Life

Friday, 14.12.2018, 18:00h @ MaMa

Sofia Lee is a photographer, GIF animator and video artist from Seattle, USA, currently residing in the Dalmatian Coast. Working primarily with old point and shoot cameras, she has directed several music videos and worked in Seattle as a new media journalist covering local events in GIF format. Her work has appeared in VICE and Mashable.

She will be sharing two projects with you:

KIN*WÄV is a project exploring recently discorded technology, consumerism and nostalgia through the visual language of Instagram. Though the project started on Instagram, it evolved both into a home installation and photo series. Sofia was the recipient of the Artist Trust GAP grant in Seattle for her work with KIN*WÄV.

digicam.love is a community founded in early 2017 by Sofia Lee, Bao Ngo and Froyo Tam to highlight the work of photographers who use point and shoot digital cameras. The aim of this project is to encourage photographers to break out of their comfort zone and explore photography in new ways with overlooked tools. digicam.love has hosted events in New York City, Los Angeles, Seattle, Copenhagen and Ljubljana and been featured in Mashable.
